In the vast virtual form of Nemesis 2, Tone2 present a revolution of an FM synthesizer. Besides your more traditional FM-synthesis, this softsynth evolves the format completely, introducing NeoFM synthesis. A souped-up version of the original, this fresh form of synthesis offers a far broader sonic palette, so alongside the classic, slightly colder FM sounds, the renewed synth engine is able to shape a warmer and softer character. Nemesis 2 also supports 22 other synthesis forms and comes including a fat bank of 1065 presets that can be tweaked with smooth ease via the clear overview offered by the graphic interface.

The Nemesis 2: FM-Synthesis

Most conventional FM synths, like the world-renowned Yamaha DX7, use phase modulation (PM) instead of genuine FM synthesis. The benefit of this is that it produces less dissonance and a tighter, more accurate sound. The less appreciated effect of phase modulation is that it adds a bell-like edge which, in the worst cases, has a sharp, overdriven and metallic quality to it. In contrast to the PM-method, NeoFM combines the best bits of FM and PM synthesis and removes all of the notorious shortcomings of 'Real Analogue FM' synthesis.

And, once you've moulded and beaten the sound into shape, it can be coloured in with the help of 33 internal effects, including reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo, vibrato, distortion, an amp simulator, bit crusher, and compression.
