Many parents have children who want a DJ set. Perhaps they've been to a party where a DJ was performing or they've seen one on TV and thought 'I want to do that too'! Mixing music, creating the perfect party atmosphere and getting everyone to dance is certainly a worthy goal. Do DJ sets for children exist though or is any DJ set suitable for a child? Read on to find out more.
The best DJ sets for children
Professional DJs normally use two (or more) DJ Players or turntables and a mixer, but for starters (especially younger children) DJ Gear like this is probably a bit too extensive and expensive. That's why buying a DJ controller is a better idea. It's essentially a combination of players and a mixer in a single unit. A DJ controller can be connected to a computer and normally comes with DJ software that can be used to mix music. Some DJ controllers also work with Android or iOS devices like smartphones and tablets. Always check the product specifications to make sure it matches your requirements. It's worth buying a complete DJ controller that has all of the most important functions on board so that your child can learn the art of DJing properly and there many budget models that are perfectly suitable. If your child just wants to dabble in DJing rather than learning proper DJing skills, however, then a simpler model will probably meet their needs.
Other requirements
DJs of all ages need speakers and headphones. Buying a DJ controller with a built-in audio interface (this is shown in the specifications) means you'll be able to plug a set of speakers and headphones directly into the controller. If the controller doesn't have a built-in audio interface, the setup is more difficult because a computer only has one audio output. If the controller doesn't come with software included, free DJ software and apps can be used.
