M-Audio's BX Subwoofer is an active subwoofer for use with the BX Carbon series and the BX D2 series of full-range studio monitors. It'll really boost the low end of your monitor system. The BX Subwoofer has a frequency range of 20 to 200 Hz, so if you combine it with a set of full-range monitors, the entire frequency spectrum is covered - an essential factor if you want to be able to fairly judge your own mixes. An included foot switch allows you to activate the sub's bypass function, so you can easily compare your music with and without the intervention of a subwoofer.
Active crossover
The BX Subwoofer has a rear-mounted stereo input for the signal from your mixer or audio interface. Your full-range monitors can be connected to the output of the sub. Both input and output are equipped with XLR and 6.35mm jack connectors. The BX Subwoofer's built-in crossover is adjustable and determines which part of the frequency spectrum is sent to the sub and which part is transmitted to the satellite speakers. An efficient crossover point ensures quality audio and protects your full-range monitors. As your satellite speakers no longer need to reproduce heavy bass tones, you can turn up their volume without suffering from distortion. Your entire system will sound clearer, louder and more detailed. Steep low-pass and high-pass filters of 24 dB per octave guarantee that there's only little overlap between your subwoofer and your monitors, so you won't have to worry about phase issues.
BX Subwoofer: a great foundation for your music
This active subwoofer is equipped with a 10-inch woofer made of a composite of paper and fibreglass. Its extra-large magnet and long-throw voice coil work together efficiently, ensuring an impressive bass output and an effective use of the subwoofer's 240-watt amplifier. Both the volume and the low-frequency level of your master output can be adjusted at the back, while a phase switch helps you counter any phases issues.
