The Seagull S6 Original is a dreadnought model steel-string acoustic guitar with a solid cedar top. It's one of the best-selling models by Seagull, and has been awarded a number of prizes for its excellence and for its price to quality ratio. This steel-string guitar is certainly affordable, and for that reason it offers beginners an excellent opportunity to experience the great feel and fantastic sound of an original Seagull guitar. This model features a beautiful hand-polished satin nitrocellulose finish.

Construction and sound of the Seagull S6 Original

As we mentioned, the Seagull S6 Original features a solid Cedar top. Compared with brighter spruce wood, cedar produces a wonderfully warm, deep sound. The sides and back of the guitar are fashioned from 3-ply laminated Canadian wild cherry wood, which produces a sound with qualities of sultry mahogany and sparkling maple. Furthermore, the S6 Original has a Canadian maple neck with a 21-fret rosewood fretboard. The neck is finished by hand with a satin lacquer for maximum playing comfort, and thanks to the characteristically small, slim Seagull headstock, the strings are positioned straight over the string nut for more stable tuning.

Broad neck and Graphtech Tusq saddles

The Seagull S6 Original has a neck that is 45.7 mm wide at the string nut, making it a bit broader than your typical steel-string guitar. Because the strings are spaced slightly further apart from one another, the guitar is easier for beginners and for those who are used to classical guitars. Seagull used Tusq for the string nut and bridge saddle, which is a hard synthetic material with silicone, produced by Graphtech. Tusq is self-lubricating to avoid friction; in other words, the guitar retains its tuning much better, and your strings don't break as easily.
