The Yamaha FG series has been highly successful with beginner and advanced guitarists for over 40 years. These acoustic folk guitars feature the famous Yamaha quality, sound and playability at prices that are affordable for everyone. The FG720S with a solid sitka top and Dusk Sun Red finish is an excellent example of this. A strong solid top is an expensive option that you don't typically see featured on guitars in this price class. The FG720S has many of the same characteristics of the FG700S, but features some more luxurious features such as the classic cream-coloured bindings along the body and neck.

Yamaha FG720S: advantages of a solid top

As previously mentioned, the Yamaha FG720S is a solid-top guitar. In other words, the top is made of solid wood, rather than laminated wood, allowing the body to resonate better and produce a vivid sound with more volume. The Canadian spruce top produces tight lows, rich mids and clear highs, which combine fantastically with the warm deep sounds produced from the nato sides and back. The neck is also fashioned from nato, and features a 20-fret rosewood fretboard with small, elegant position markers. The FG720S is a serious guitar for a serious beginner!

Yamaha's eye for detail

The FG720S makes use of Yamaha's reverse L-block design, which transfers the vibrations of the strings more quickly to the body of the guitar. This means you have more depth in your sound and a better tone, with improved stability of the neck joint. The larger format of the rosewood bridge helps the sound carry better from the strings to the top, resulting in bright, clear mids and an overall full and balanced sound. Finally, the FG720S is simply and tastefully decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays in the headstock, a black and cream rosette around the sound hold, and a red tortoise pick guard.
