Allmänt

These black and silver Sony MDR-1ADAC (silver) over-ear headphones open up a world of digital possibilities. They are supplied with a number of digital cables: a Lightning cable to connect them to the latest iPhone, iPad and iPod models, a cable with Sony's own Walkman connector, a cable for smartphones (USB micro) and a regular USB cable, which can be used to stream audio from your laptop, but also to recharge the battery of the headphones. This battery drives the internal amplifier and digital-analogue converter, which are responsible for the outstanding sound quality of these MDR-1ADACs.

MDR-1ADAC silver: autonomous amplification

Whereas most other headphones suffer from the inferior audio chips and connectors the average smartphone, tablet or laptop is equipped with, the Sony MDR-1ADACs handle the conversion of digital to analogue signals and the subsequent sound amplification themselves, using high-grade components. Additionally, they don't use analogue cables which can also be detrimental to your sound quality. The signal is sent to your ears by means of two 40mm drivers, made of liquid crystal polymer, that reproduce your playlists in an exceptionally detailed, clear and undistorted fashion.

Recharging and accessories

The amplifier and converter of the MDR-1ADAC headphones are driven by a built-in battery that lasts for up to eight consecutive hours. In other words, you're able to enjoy your playlists for hours on end. The battery can easily be charged by connecting one end of the included USB cable to the Charge input of the headphones, and the other end to the USB port of, for instance, your laptop. In addition to the necessary cables, the Sony MDR-1ADAC headphones come with a practical carry case. Thanks to their foldable design, the headphones fit effortlessly into your bag.

Sony MDR-1ADAC (silver) hörlurar

Sony hoofdtelefoon met ingebouwde DAC voor prima geluidskwaliteit, voor als bijv. je laptop of smartphone mindere DAC's hebben (en dat is vaak het geval). Deze hoofdtelefoon is geschikt voor High Resolution audio; oftewel een completer/beter geluid door een groter frequentiebereik. En ja, het werkt! Ik heb Lavinia Meijer haar nieuwste album in zowel gewone (mp3 320 kbps en cd) kwaliteit beluisterd als ook in high-res audio; die laatste komt duidelijk meer in de buurt van een live uitvoering bijwonen. De echte fijnproevers onder audiofielen zullen ongetwijfeld nog betere hoofdtelefoons weten te vinden, maar deze Sony is voor mensen die van high-res audio willen genieten zonder gelijk nog enkele honderden euro's meer uit te geven wat mij betreft een prima uitkomst. Verder: de hoofdtelefoon ziet er mooi uit en het draagcomfort is erg goed. Bovendien levert Sony alle benodigde kabeltjes erbij en ook een handig tasje om de hoofdtelefoon in te bewaren.
