Ovation Standard Balladeer 1861 Autumn Burst USA 1994

This second-hand Ovation guitar was built in New Hartfort, Connecticut (USA) in 1994, and is still in excellent shape. It's an 1861 model that has ended up at Bax-shop thanks to our trade campaign. Not only does this Standard Balladeer come with the original Ovation case and accessories, the original purchase receipt is also included. The guitar's Grade A solid spruce top is beautifully flat and undamaged, which doesn't just look fantastic, but results in a rich sound with plenty of sustain. A gorgeous hand-inlaid Oakleaf rosette decorates the sound hole, lending a nice finishing touch to the instrument's Autumn Burst finish.

Ovation Standard Balladeer 1861 USA: construction, resonance and minimal feedback

This Standard Balladeer model is equipped with a Shallow Bowl back, which offers the same benefits as a Roundback does. Made of the sturdy synthetic material Lyrachord, it delivers plenty of resonance, and reduces feedback to a minimum when you amplify the guitar's sound. The 1861 model's Contour Bowl body produces the same full-bodied tone as a jumbo guitar, but is more compact and therefore much more pleasant to play. An OP-24+ preamp with a 3-band EQ and a piezo pickup is responsible for a pristine amplified tone.

Ovation guitars stand out thanks to their impressive sustain, volume and projection. They are the result of Ovation's devotion to perfecting the acoustic construction of a guitar. The Roundback design and the lightweight, rugged composite Lyrachord play an important role. In Ovation's famous electro-acoustic models, for instance - which already featured a pickup/preamp system back in the 1970s - the roundback construction reduces feedback to a minimum.
