This Meridian Maple-series floor tom has a number of high-end features that help it achieve its impressively deep and rich sound.

This 18 x 16-inch floor tom has special lugs that make minimal contact with the shell. These single-point-of-contact lugs, as Mapex calls them, allow the shell to resonate freely, enhancing its sound. Furthermore, the floor tom is fitted with spring-loaded floor tom legs that hail from the higher-end Saturn series.
