This Jackson JS3 Kelly Bird IV is the brainchild of legendary Megadeth bassist David Ellefson. This tough-looking electric bass guitar is a mixture of the classic Thunderbird bass and the modern Jackson Kelly. This is the updated version of the bass that Dave used in the nineties during the Countdown to Extinction tour. The difference is that this version now has a price tag that allows even beginning bass players and advanced players with a limited budget to afford it. The Jackson JS3 Kelly Bird IV is available in the colours Trans Blue Burst and this Trans Black. Both have black-coloured hardware for that aggressive, dark metal look.
Features of the Jackson JS3 Kelly Bird IV
The Jackson JS3 Kelly Bird IV is the deluxe version of the JS2 Kelly Bird IV. The basswood body of this four-string bass guitar has a veneer finish made of beautiful flamed maple. Around the fretboard and headstock you can also find white bindings to give the guitar a chic contrast. This guitar has improved tone control with an active 3-band EQ, including controls for the low, mid and high tones. The JS3 Kelly Bird IV is also equipped with two powerful EMG humbucker pickups which each has its own volume control. They provide a deep, fat sound and are perfect for those punchy metal bass lines. Thanks to the heavy, black Jackson High Mass bridge your notes will get a tighter tone as well as a longer sustain.
Compound radius-fretboard
The neck of the JS3 Kelly Bird IV is made of strong, solid maple. It has a 21-fret rosewood fretboard and elegant pearloid block inlays to indicate the positions. The higher positions of the fretboard are flatter than the lower positions. This means it has a compound radius, and in combination with the extra large jumbo frets, you'll have optimal playing comfort along the entire neck. The headstock of the JS3 Kelly Bird IV has that typical Jackson sharp hockey stick-like shape. It is also fitted with a flamed maple veneer and has high-quality four-in-line sealed, self-lubricating-type machine heads. The classic white Jackson logo completes the picture.
