Allmänt
Not only Munky but also guitarist Head (Brian Welch) from nu-metal band Korn has had 7-string signature model Ibanez guitar for 20 years now. In honour of this 20th anniversary, Ibanez has released the KOMRAD 20th Anniversary, a Limited Edition-model. This 7-string is based on the Ibanez RGD-model and was decorated with a special graphic of white splashes on a black background on the body as well as the headstock.
Features of the Ibanez KOMRAD20
The RGD-style body of the KOMRAD20 is based on the RG, Ibanez's most famous model, with characteristic bevelled horns and arm contour. The body is made of basswood for a lightweight and tight tone. The KOMRAD20 has a 3-piece maple neck with the thin Wizard II-7 profile that, despite being slightly wider, is very comfortable to play for those who are used to a 6-string guitar. The rosewood fretboard has been kept orderly without any inlays and has 24 easy-to-play jumbo frets.
Pickups and hardware
This basic but powerful workhorse is equipped with DiMarzio PAF-7 pickups. These two humbuckers have a low output and produce the classic sound from the fifties: clean and open bass notes and a warm and rounded high. With a 3-way pickup switch and volume and tone control you have a wide range of rich sounds. The Ibanez KOMRAD20 is also fitted with simple but effective fixed bridge for a tight tone and allows you to quickly switch chords.
