Made of wood and featuring a Satin Walnut finish, the hoops of this Gretsch S-5514WH-SWN snare drum ensure a natural, warm sound. The shell of the snare is made of 10mm-thick 10-ply maple and equipped with 30-degree bearing edges, which ensure optimal sustain as they reduce the contact with your drumheads to a bare minimum, creating an open sound. The overall tone of the snare drum is warm and quite full, distinguishing this S-5514WH-SWN from regular snare drums.
Easy operation and optimal drumhead tension
The throw-off system has been slightly adjusted to accommodate the somewhat thicker wooden hoops of the S-5514WH-SWN: notches at throw-off and butt plate position allow for easy operation, enabling you to adjust the sound of the snare wires from dampened to clear with one simple movement. The snare drum is equipped with ten lugs so you can effortlessly tune your batter head to perfection. The S-5514WH-SWN is supplied with Evans drumheads and has a Gloss Natural finish that combines well with the Satin Walnut finish of the hoops and the chrome-coloured hardware, resulting in a overall classic, natural look.
