Gretsch Drums BK-J483-SCM Broadkaster SB Satin Classic Maple

Allmänt

Say the name Gretsch Broadkaster and the drumming world will start reminiscing about the legendary drum kits from the previous century. The BK-J483-SCM introduces the Broadkaster into the 21st century. The shell set has a Satin Classic Maple finish that really shows off its maple wood. Featuring a small 18-inch bass drum, a 12-inch tom and a 14-inch floor tom, the set is perfect for music that requires subtle drums.

Authentic shells

If you're updating a model as popular as the Broadkaster, naturally you'll want to keep the main features intact. That's why the shells of the BK-J483-SCM are made of only three plies of wood, just like the original Broadkaster shells. The combination of two plies of maple with a ply of poplar in between ensures a subtle sound with a powerful low end. To accommodate modern drummers, though, the shells have been equipped with modern Standard Build hardware. The tom, for instance, is suspended from its steel hoop to prevent shell contact, allowing it to resonate freely. The floor tom legs have memory locks and the telescopic bass drum legs can easily be set to the preferred height.

A Modern Bop Kit

The configuration with an 18-inch bass drum is referred to by Gretsch as the Modern Bop Kit, an allusion to the classic status of the Broadkaster series. The white Remo bass drum head is decorated with the vintage logo, and the Dark Walnut hoops of the bass drum have a decorative Antique Pearl inlay. The bearing edges of the shells have been finished with a reverse roundover technique, which enhances the surface contact between shell and drumhead, resulting in a full sound.
