Bringing up the ideal guitar construction could spark hours of debate, but there's one thing most six-string scholars agree upon: the thinner the lacquer, the better the tonal properties of the wood can come forth. Keeping this in mind, Fender designed the Limited Edition Oiled Ash Stratocaster. They took it one step further even by using a protective oil instead of a lacquer. The result is truly striking and allows for the ash to resonate freely, giving the Oiled Ash Stratocaster an exceptionally great sound.
Construction
The core of this beautiful Strat is formed by the American Standard Stratocaster, which means that you can expect it to be a timeless classic with modern modifications to considerably better playing comfort. Additionally, the body of this Strat is made of ash, a type of wood that ensures a balanced tone and an open grain structure that makes it the perfect subject for a natural finish such as this one. As mentioned, the remarkable finish ensures an exceptionally lively, organic sound. Subsequently, the 22-fret maple fretboard adds a bit of sparkle to the overall sound's trebles.
Pickups and hardware
The sound of this American Standard Strat is marvellously fat and vintage thanks to its three Custom Shop Fat '50s single coil pickups that produce a higher output than classic alnico 5 single coils, along with slightly more bass and a milder mid range. The result is a guitar that sounds amazing and that combines the classic single-coil sparkle with extra bass and more power. Other modern details include the comfortable C-profile neck with a 9.5-inch fretboard radius. Lastly, there's room left for a renewed bridge with friction-free steel bridge saddles and solid steel sustain block for added tone and sustain.
