British guitar icon Johnny Marr's signature model is now also available as a Limited Edition Sherwood Green Metallic version. This Fender is basically an American Vintage Jaguar, fitted with several modifications initiated by the former guitarist of The Smiths. Distinctive features of this remarkable Jaguar include its Bare Knuckle pickups, two bright functions, a 4-position pickup switch and other performance mods. There are only 36 of these guitars available and we stock two of them!
Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar SGM: classic features
Like the original, this Jaguar too features the well-known asymmetrical alder body with a short-scale neck of 24 inches. The neck profile of this guitar is based on Johnny's own 1965 Fender Jaguar. Characteristic features include the single string guide on the headstock, a 22-fret rosewood fretboard with large position markers and a vintage-style truss rod at the end of the neck near the body. Both the body and the neck have a nitrocellulose lacquer finish for a deep gloss.
Bare Knuckle pickups and modern modifications
The Bare Knuckle pickups in the Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar Sherwood Green Metallic were based on an original 1962 Jaguar. However, the three slider switches on the bottom horn made room for a 4-position pickup switch, combining both pickups to function as a humbucker in the fourth position. The two slider switches on the top horn are now a master bright control (high-pass filter) for both pickups and a bright control (treble boost) for the humbucker mode. Lastly, the Jaguar bridge features better Mustang saddles and nylon post inserts for improved tuning stability.
