The Fender Japan Special Edition Competition Mustang combines many different cultures. The Mustang is an American symbol for freedom (both the car and the horse). This particular model, however, was built in Japan, where attention to detail is still the norm. Besides that, it also has a gorgeous Fiesta Red finish. (And 'fiesta' is Spanish, of course, so that might count as another cultural influence!) While this is a limited edition model, we managed to procure a few of them for you, so that you can enjoy the vintage specs and tough new look of this high-quality Japanese Fender Mustang.

Special Edition Competition Mustang: construction

The Mustang's small offset body is made of basswood, which means it's not too heavy, and it's very comfortable to play both sitting down and standing up. Furthermore, basswood has excellent tonal properties. It produces a rich tone with a prominent mid range, meaning your guitar will have a beautifully bright sound and will pick up all the subtleties of our playing. Its short scale length (24") and narrow string nut (40 mm) give it that unmistakable Mustang feel. This puts less tension on a .009 string set, making it easier to perform string bends, while thicker strings, of course, would give you an even richer tone.
