Allmänt

It is virtually identical to the F-1020S, but the Fender F-1030S was bestowed with two luxury upgrades. This acoustic western guitar has a chic satin-gloss lacquer finish and sides and back made of rosewood instead of mahogany. Besides that, it has the same vintage feel as the rest of the F-series guitars. The F-1030S was inspired by Fender's F-series Dreadnought guitars from the seventies, as is clear from its extra large headstock and Viking-style bridge.

Fender F-1030S: cedar solid top

The F-1030S is a so-called solid top acoustic guitar, meaning that the top is made of solid wood, cedar in this case. Solid is preferable over laminated wood in the sense that it provides the guitar with a better resonance, resulting in a fuller, richer, more open tone. The sizeable dreadnought body with rosewood sides and back contribute to this tone with a proper dose of deep, tight mids and sweet, yet defined trebles. The neck is made of mahogany and features a 20-fret rosewood fretboard as well as a comfortable C profile.

Luxury details

Like the 'F' next to the 12th fret, the Fender logo on the headstock of the F-1030S is a maple inlay. The sound hole is also tastefully decorated with a maple and mahogany rosette. Even the bindings along the body and fretboard are made of genuine maple. The string nut and the bridge saddle are made of GraphTech NuBone and have the same excellent tonal properties as genuine bone ones. The vintage feel is further emphasised by the cream-white bridge pins and aged chrome machine heads.

Fender F-1030S Dreadnought

Goed klinkende, goed bespeelbare gitaar. Ziet er ook prima uit. Hij is vrij groot en genereert daardoor veel volume. Basstonen komen goed door en dat is een van de belangrijkste redenen dat ik voor dit model heb gekozen. Muting klinkt heerlijk. Tuners houden de stemming goed en de kwaliteit van de kam is boven verwachting. Al met al een goede aankoop.
