Catalinbread have designed the Montavillian Echo to sound just as big as an echo driven by tubes. Indeed, they even tried to make the dry guitar signal sound better with the pedal on than in true bypass mode. To achieve this Catalinbread fully redeveloped the PT2399 chip, using their ears as a guide. The result is an echo pedal with lots of headroom and combination possibilities. It works really well with a clean or heavily overdriven amp, for instance. Using it together with a fuzz or overdrive pedal won't give you any problems either, and if you want even more headroom it can be run at 18V.

Montavillian: extremely versatile

The Montavillian has four controls for easy use. Each provides a wide range which gives this seemingly simple pedal a surprisingly versatile character. With the Time control you can adjust the delay time between 60 and 600 milliseconds. The Cut control acts as a low-pass filter fluctuating from 400 Hz to 1500 Hz which enhances the midrange. The Mix control allows you to determine the extent of the boost making the most dramatic effects possible. As such, you can even set this pedal so that the repetitions are louder than the dry signal! With the Repeat control you can specify the number of repetitions. For instance, you could choose just one repetition that slowly loses itself in a sea of sound.
