Do you want to enjoy AKG quality without paying an enormous amount of money? The Perception series contains the solution for you, with the Perception 220, for instance. This condenser microphone may rightfully be called a "large-diaphragm" microphone, as it has a built-in diaphragm of an inch. This diaphragm provides a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which covers the entire spectrum of human hearing - the microphone picks up precisely what you hear!

High-quality recordings are not only dependant on the diaphragm and frequency range. It is also vital that the microphone does not pick up ambient noise. This is why AKG have equipped this microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern which ensures that the microphone picks up most of the sound from the front of the microphone and very little from the sides. This way, you are hardly ever bothered by ambient noise and therefore you will be able to enjoy clear recordings.

In order to promote the sound quality even more, AKG has built in a 20dB pad. This ensures that less noise comes into your recordings and it offers you the possibility to attenuate loudly singing vocalists, so that you will be provided with a signal at a normal volume. A bass-cut filter is also included, so that vocalists are clearly intelligible. AKG have made this microphone fit for on-the-road use with the solid housing that is completely made of metal and can therefore take a hit.
