Yamaha spent three years developing the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple shell set. This model is finished in Gold Champagne Sparkle, for a bit of class and flash on stage. The set consists of a 20-inch bass drum, a 14-inch floor tom and two toms at 10 and 12 inches, making it a fusion configuration that is well suited for many different music styles. Additional features include die-cast aluminium hoops for a bright, open sound and shells made from a maple/wenge combination for the characteristic hybrid sound of this set. This set is an outstanding choice for the professional drummer who wants to get everything possible from a drum set.

Wood types

One of the most unique features of this series is the use of two different wood types for the shells. 6 layers of maple surround a hard layer of wenge wood to provide a big dose of expression. Every nuance in your playing is brought to life with this set, and sent to your audience with impressive clarity. Additionally, each shell has been given a different number of vent holes depending on its size, to offer optimal sustain and sound from each individual piece. With this Absolute Hybrid Maple shell set, Yamaha delivers a kit with true musical character.

Shell hardware

The hardware featured on the shells was chosen and mounted in such a way as to create as little extra sound as possible. That's where the lightweight YESS tom mounting system comes in. This system was built to put minimum weight on the bass drum, so that it would resonate freely. Furthermore, the toms are mounted to the holder at four points, so that they could resonate freely as well. As you can imagine, all that resonating creates a fantastic sound! And if you haven't gotten enough resonance yet, we should probably mention that the tension rods have been kept as small as possible so as not to hinder the overall resonance. All in all, this is a warm, open-sounding shell set with excellent quality.
