When you're just starting out as a drummer, there's no rule that says you have to start out with a second-hand drum kit, or a toy kit even. The Pearl RS585C/C91 Roadshow in Red Wine is a highly complete kit at a very reasonable price. This kit is especially well suited for smaller drummers. As the bass drum is kept relatively small, which means the toms also don't end up being positioned too high. The Wine Red wrap finish and chrome hardware give the instrument a stylish look.

This drum kit comes in a Junior configuration. That means it consists of an 18 x 12-inch bass drum, 10 x 7-inch and 12 x 8-inch toms, a 14 x 10-inch floor tom and a 13 x 5-inch snare drum. Its shells are made of 9 plies of poplar, which give the kit a warm sound. The bearing edges, where the drumhead touches the shell, have a 45-degree angle, which helps amplify the sound and makes the heads much easier to tune.

Everything you need

When you're just starting out as a drummer, you'll need more than just drum shells. You'll need cymbals, for instance. Luckily, the Pearl Roadshow drum kits come with a 14-inch Hybrid hi-hat and a 16-inch crash/ride cymbal. It also comes with double-braced stands, which offer excellent stability and durability. Furthermore, the included drum throne features the same rubber feet that the stands have, so it won't slide around. Finally, you'll need a pair of drum sticks. And Pearl threw in not one, but two pairs of their own Pearl 5A Maple drum sticks, which you can keep in the included stick bag.
