Gretsch's legendary Broadkaster drum kits combine outstanding sound characteristics with fantastic looks. The 2014 models from the series are a modern take on the classic kit, but still offer the same authentic look. This three-piece Classic Heritage Vintage Build shell set has a luscious Antique Pearl finish, and consists of a 22 x 14-inch bass drum, a 12 x 8-inch tom and a 16 x 16-inch floor tom. It's a top-quality kit, suitable for various music styles like rock and fusion.
Broadkaster Classic Heritage: shells and hardware
The thin shells of the Broadkaster Classic Heritage sets consist of two plies of maple with a single ply of poplar in between. This combination of wood types produces a warm, full sound with a well-defined low end. The vintage shell hardware of the set includes a distinctive rail Consolette on the bass drum, which enables you to quickly and easily mount the tom at the right playing position. The tom has a rugged plate mount with clip, and the floor tom is supported by relatively slim, but stable 9.5mm legs and has a G4823V vintage diamond clamp. The bass drum is kept securely in place by its USA G4966 vintage bass drum legs. In short, this shell set is steady as a rock.
Hoops and bearing edges
The 6-ply maple hoops of the bass drum are fitted with a decorative Antique Pearl inlay that matches the finish of the shell. The claw hooks of the bass drum are equipped with vintage T-rod tension rods. The double-flanged hoops of the toms have been modelled after the old models, but are made of a more rugged type of steel. The bearing edges of the Classic Heritage Vintage Build Antique Pearl shells have been finished with a reverse roundover technique, ensuring optimal surface contact between shell and drumhead for that full, warm, authentic Gretsch sound.
The classic characteristics of the BK-R423V-AP shell set are combined with modern technology: all shells are equipped with internal mufflers. The bass drum's muffler is located on the resonant side of the shell.
