Allmänt

Designed for beginners, no matter their age, the lightweight Fazley ART-TP100 ABS trumpet has a Bb tuning - the most accessible tuning a trumpet can have, and since it's been moulded from ABS and given a cool red-and-black paint job before being fitted with metal valves and a metal and ABS valve housing, this trumpet has a smooth, friction-free playing feel. While it doesn't come including valve oil, the Fazley ART-TP100 does come with an ABS mouthpiece and a soft-case.

The Fazley ART-TP100 Bb Trumpet

Any built up condensation can be drained off with ease via the water key fitted to the lead pipe, which can also be adjusted to raise or lower the pitch of the first valve. The pitch of the other valves can also be adjusted to make the C# and D sound proportionally lower, for example, since these notes can sound unnaturally high for a Bb trumpet. The bell has a 129mm diameter and an 11.6mm bore, while the entire instrument weighs just 500 grams.

Why Play a Plastic Trumpet?

By starting with a lightweight, plastic instrument, kids that are picking up the trumpet for the first time get a genuine instrument that has a more manageable weight and size, rather than having to start with the smaller cornet. Traditional brass instruments are also fairly sensitive to scratches and dents and tend to be more expensive, which is maybe not the best option when your child might suddenly become obsessed with playing the piano or tennis after just six months of trumpet lessons. The durable ABS plastic Fazley trumpet is not only much more affordable, but more hard-wearing, so it's able to take a few knocks and shocks on the way to school and back, making it the perfect introductory instrument.

Fazley ART-TP100-RD ABS Red Bb Trumpet

I bought this a few months ago, and I have to say I am delighted with it!
Its affordable price, attractive appearance, and super-light weight were the features which persuaded me to give it a try. It plays really well! I didn’t realize a plastic instrument could sound so good.
I use it almost daily for teaching. It doesn’t have a third valve finger tuning slide. I find low C# is a shade sharp, so I have to use my embouchure to drop the pitch here.
I upgraded the mouthpiece to a metal one more suited to my embouchure, but even with the standard mouthpiece it sounds great.
It’s very practical to maintain. All the valves are identical, therefore interchangeable, and I have found that by drying it thoroughly after every playing, no valve oil is required, except that the third valve often sticks, so a little oil is required. No it’s not perfect, but for what it cost me it’s fantastic.
(PS, I also bought a Fazley plastic Flugelhorn from Bax, which is totally awesome for the price!)
