The Korg Kross-88 BK is a fully black edition of Korg's Kross-88. With 112 MB of waveforms, this workstation offers a comprehensive collection of high-grade sounds. With a little help from the sequencer and the arpeggiator, you'll be able to create your own compositions in no time, from modern to classical. If you weren't a big fan of the original Kross-88's red bottom, this fully black edition may want to make you reconsider. Despite its incredible versatility, the workstation can be powered by only six AA batteries. Depending on the type of battery you use, this Kross will operate for about four to five hours. When you're working in the studio, you can also opt for the included power adapter instead.

The sound of the Kross-88

With this black Kross beneath your hands, you have absolutely no reason to feel bored. Its 112MB ROM is filled with varied sounds, ranging from pianos, drums and strings, to horns, guitars and synths. The grand piano in particular stands out thanks to its realistic decays and samples in three different playing levels. Also present are the sounds of the SG-1D and the legendary M1, making the Kross-88 BK a real all-rounder.

Control and options

Controlling the Kross-88 isn't hard at all and you'll quickly know your way around all the basic functions. Two knobs (for bank and sound) are all you need to select a sound, while the workstation's 240x64-pixel LCD display keeps you fully informed. There are 64 user presets to store your own sounds, and plenty of insert and master effects to add professional flavour to your productions. You even have a vocoder at your disposal - connect a mic to the 6.3mm microphone input and experiment away. If you export your Kross music productions as an audio file and store them on an SD card, you can use your computer to turn them into audio CDs, or post them on YouTube or other social media. With the Korg Kross-88 BK, you can get as creative as you like!
