Small in size but full of sound: the Meinl SU16 surdo. This instrument is used to set the tempo in well-known samba music. Three sizes of surdo are often used side by side. This SU16 has a field diameter of 16 inches and is excellent for the fastest cutador part. Show off flashy rhythms on this aluminium drum. The beating head is extra durable and features a slight damping, for clearly audible rhythms. Moreover, the aluminium shell provides excellent sound projection, ideal during outdoor performances.
Meinl SU16: Traditional series
This surdo comes from the Traditional series. Its appearance can most certainly be called Traditional thanks to the relief applied and the metal used. Previously, bowls were made of steel but nowadays there are more and more lightweight aluminium bowls. This spares your back, allowing you to walk effortlessly in any samba parade. All tensioning bolts are fully countersunk and the included tuning spanner allows you to tune the sheet. A high-quality cutador surdo, for the enthusiastic samba percussionist.
