Presonus develop and produce mixers and monitors made specifically for both live and studio audio. All Presonus-made gear embodies the smart principle of providing expensive sound at an affordable price and, as such, this Eris MTM-Series near-field studio monitor is no exception. Treated to the MTM configuration, the tweeter has been nestled between a pair of mid-woofers. This not only provides an optimised stereo image but a much more balanced frequency response and a much larger sweet spot when compared to that of more conventional speaker configurations.

The Presonus Eris E44: Like Seeing Double

The two 4.5-inch woofers have been designed to produce the same frequency range and have been precisely positioned so that their acoustic centre is separated by no more than one wavelength, making the sound waves emitting from both woofers behave as a combined, single wave. These relatively small woofers therefore sound like a much larger single woofer, allowing the speaker cabinet to remain fairly compact while delivering a fat sound.

Transparent and Cohesive Audio

Due to the MTM configuration, the audio reproduction of the E44 remains intact both on and off-axis. This gives you more flexibility in terms of listening position since the sweet spot is a lot bigger than standard studio monitors, and you have the added benefit of incredible transparency. The woofers are made of woven Kevlar; a material that has a lighting-fast and accurate response to all frequencies, and that's been woven in a particular way to prevent the reflections that can sometimes occur on the surface of the woofer. This means that any audio signal sent through will be kept as close to the original as possible. Around the back of this already outstanding reference monitor, the Acoustic Space function can be found and adjusted to calibrate the monitor according to the acoustic properties of the room.
