Allmänt
M-Audio's BX series has been quite a success story, and now offers a third generation: the BX Carbon series. The BX Carbon series consists of three studio monitors, with woofers ranging from 5 to 8 inches. The BX5 Carbon is the smallest model and is equipped with a 5-inch woofer and a soft-dome tweeter.
Characteristics of the BX5 Carbon
The BX Carbon series has been modelled after the BX and BX D2 series, but M-Audio has provided the Carbon speakers with an upgrade. The monitors still offer a great price/quality ratio and remain an excellent choice for home studios. The BX5 Carbon has been equipped with a Kevlar-reinforced woofer cone, which allows for tight and defined audio reproduction. The redesigned front panel has a silver-grey finish that gives the monitor a fresher overall look than its predecessors, and the waveguide dispersion has been improved, resulting in an expanded sweet spot.
Connectors and acoustics
Like all M-Audio BX monitors, the BX5 Carbon is fitted with a selection of balanced and unbalanced inputs, as well as volume control and a bass reflex port at the rear. A new feature is the Acoustic Space Control functionality, which enables you to adjust the sound characteristics of the speaker to the acoustics of its surroundings. As the positioning of a studio monitor is just as important as the acoustics of the room, the waveguide has been equipped with an LED - once it lights up brightly, you'll know the monitor has been efficiently placed.

De monitors zijn bi-amp, dus twee aansluitsnoeren op 230V. Voorts, zoals de duurdere professionele monitors, zijn de ingangen XLR en Jacks. De 'accoustic' regelswitch is handig als je speakers dicht bij een wand staan.
Alle knoppen en connectoren zitten aan de achterzijde, wat voor sommige mensen lastig is, maar ik vind dat zelf niet zo erg.
Best sluit je de speakers via Atapi uitgang van PC op een audio interface aan want via de koptelefoonuitgang krijg je sowieso altijd een minder 'objectief' geluid, nl dat van je geluidskaart.
Had aanvankelijk veel brom op de speakers zonder dat er signaal doorkwam. Bleek veroorzaakt te worden door een aardingslus met de voeding van mijn laptop. Voeding laptop via ongeaarde kabel in stopcontact geplugd en de aardingslus was geneutraliseerd.
Voorts een pluim voor Bax shop voor de snelle en veilige levering van de BX5 set: BX5 zaten apart in dozen verpakt en dan nog eens in een grote doos van Bax binnenin omringd door plastic luchtkussentjes. Prima zo!!

heel goed te gebruiken voor je home studio, in combinatie ( in mijn geval ) met een Behinger mixer.
qua design is het ook een hoogstandje en de service van Baxshop.nl is van een hoge kwaliteit.
