This set of passive speakers consists of two KEF LS50s, anniversary model speakers that celebrate renowned Hi-Fi maker KEF's 50 years of innovation in sound. With a piano black finish and a copper-coloured cone that contains the driver and the woofer, these speakers have a distinctive look. They feature the Uni-Q driver array from KEF's other flagship speakers, the Blade. The result is a faithful sound reproduction that excels in transparency and balance throughout their entire frequency range. Simply connect the LS50s to a Hi-Fi amplifier of your choice (100 watts max.) and hear your favourite music as never before with a newer, fresher sound.
Uni-Q and Elliptical Bass Port
The Uni-Q speaker construction consists of a 5.25-inch woofer made of a magnesium/aluminium alloy and a 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter. The so-called Tangerine Waveguide ensures a more balanced sound with a wider dispersion of the high tones that results in a broader sweet spot. A piano black finish gives the bass reflex housing a great look. On the back, an elliptical flexible port prevents any turbulence from certain bass frequencies. You are assured of bass that sounds clean without any peaks or distortions thanks to the patented bass port construction.
50 Years of Innovation
In the 1960s, KEF founder Raymond Cooke developed a very good relationship with the BBC. As the designer of the LS3/5a, a very successful compact studio monitor, Cooke was asked to help develop drivers and filters. The LS50 is KEF's anniversary model, that in keeping with the spirit of the LS3/5a, uses the latest technology for top-quality audio with maximum transparency. With the same driver concept as the fantastic KEF Blade, the KEF LS50 is a must for those who want to experience a truly authentic musical experience.
