With this edition of the Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Cherry Bomb shell set, you get a unique three-piece that effortlessly blends modern build techniques with vintage sound. Each shell has been made from cherry wood - hence Cherry Bomb - where the 12 inch rack tom and 14 inch floor tom each feature a six-ply construction, completing the 5.8mm-thick walls. The 18 inch kick drum, meanwhile, has a thicker eight-ply construction for an 8.2mm-thick wall, which combines with the tight shell dimensions to complete the bop jazz configuration. The result is stunning, round sound with forceful projection.

The Mapex Black Panther Design Lab Cherry Bomb

The three shells have been given a classic Piano Black finish before being mounted with black-brushed hardware, from the high-grade Master Tune Lugs to the Sonic Pedestal floor tom feet and SAS Attenuating Floor Tom legs, and the angle of each floor tom leg can even be set individually to ensure maximum resonance. To finish, both toms have been fitted out with 2.3mm Triple Flanged tension hoops and polished off with SONIClear bearing edges, resulting in flatter and far improved shell-to-drumhead contact.
