Vandoren Reeds: Strength 1 to 5

Vandoren reeds come in various strengths, which are indicated by different numbers, from 1 to 5, in half steps. 1 is the thinnest and has the lowest strength, makes shaping pure and clean notes easier, but does compromise a little on sound quality. 5 is the thickest reed, and while you have to work harder to create clean tone, the sound is a lot more full and rich.
