The Zoom SSH-6 is a stereo shotgun microphone that has been designed specifically for the H5 or H6 handheld recorder. It's a mid-side stereo microphone, which means you can adjust the stereo image to your preferences. Simply point the SSH-6's shotgun mic at a speaker to accurately register his or her speech, and the bidirectional mic will capture audio coming from the left and right. That way, even ambient sound is picked up. You can easily adjust the recording level of the bidirectional microphone on the SSH-6 itself.

SSH-6: the right mix

If you use the RAW format setting of your H5/H6 recorder, it's possible to adjust the stereo width after you've finished recording. Use the shotgun mic to record the main source, and then later mix in the ambient sound that the side mic has registered. Turn the stereo signal down to prevent environmental noise from drowning out speech, or turn it up to add a lively tone to your recordings. The master recording volume can easily be adjusted using the practical dial on top of the SSH-6. An included windscreen makes sure your recordings won't be tainted by wind noise.
