Allmänt
For many years, DigiMax preamplifiers have been used in studios all over the world. The Presonus DigiMax DP88 - also part of this successful series - offers an 8-channel expansion for any audio interface with optical ADAT connectors. At the back, you can connect up to eight microphones, using XLR inputs or a DB25 connector, supported by XMAX preamps. A second DB25 input allows for line input as well. Burr-Brown processors convert audio into a digital signal, which is then transmitted to your sound card by means of ADAT outputs (Toslink).
DigiMax DP88: an 8-channel expansion
The Presonus DP88 is compatible with any sound card that is equipped with ADAT connectors, but the preamplifier/converter is a perfect match for the Studio 192 interface. Combine these two devices, and you're able to control the preamps from your UC Surface software, or from Presonus' very own DAW, Studio One 3. If you're working with a different audio interface, however, many functions can still be remotely controlled via MIDI. Regardless of your setup, this DigiMax always delivers professional sound quality. As such, the DP88 may very well set a new standard for 8-channel converters.
XMAX and Burr-Brown
XMAX preamplifiers and Burr-Brown processors play an essential part in the DigiMax DP88. The XMAX preamps ensure high headroom, low noise, a wide dynamic range and a wide frequency response. Their musical, transparent sound makes them quite popular among sound engineers. Burr-Brown processors, meanwhile, are responsible for 96kHz digital conversion with a dynamic range of 118 dB. They can easily handle even the most complex overtones, resulting in a detailed, authentic sound. All in all, the DP88 is an exceptionally practical, versatile studio preamp that delivers outstanding audio.
