Akai's MPD2 series offers a fitting model for any beat maker, producer or musician. The large MPD232 and medium MPD226 boast an impressive control section, but if you're not interested in that functionality - because you already have a perfectly good controller for that, for instance - this smaller model is a great alternative. Essentially, the Akai MPD218 USB/MIDI controller is a pad controller. Like its bigger counterparts, it's equipped with sixteen physical pads, amounting to a total of 48 programmable pads thanks to three banks. In a similar way, six knobs provide you with eighteen programmable controls.
