Allmänt
Playing a chromatic harmonica can be quite difficult, but the Hohner Chrometta 8 is a highly accessible instrument, suited for both professional and beginner harmonica players. The Chrometta harmonicas are entirely handmade. That way, Hohner protects the quality of the instrument and their own great reputation, while also managing to raise the instrument's popularity.
The Chrometta 8
The Chrometta line consists of four harmonicas, of which the 8-hole Chrometta 8 is the smallest. After its introduction in 1956, the series has never lost its popularity. In fact, very little has changed in its design over the last 60 years - it still has the same comb and the same gorgeous look. Of course, Hohner is known for their 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality. The Chrometta 8 is highly user-friendly, and for beginners, it's the ideal introduction to the world of chromatic harmonicas. That is mostly because of its extra wide channel openings in combination with the clear mouthpiece, which makes it easier to play single notes. The Chrometta has a range of 32 notes (two octaves). Thanks to the clever cover design, all these notes will sound warm and rich.
Materials
All Chrometta harmonicas are handmade, and are the result of Hohners 150 years of accumulated knowledge and experience. They're crafted individually and are highly accurately tuned. The Hohner Chrometta features an ABS plastic comb, allowing for enhanced sustain and volume, as a plastic comb does not swell up. The reed plate, as well as the reeds themselves are made of brass. Hohner uses brass quite often, as it produces the best, most beautiful intonation. Finally, the Chrometta 8 features a plastic mouthpiece and covers made of stainless steel.
