Technical details of the MM-1 desktop speakers

The MM-1 speakers aren't just your standard desktop speakers. Usually, desktop speakers of this size and price produce a sound that misses out on low frequencies. Bowers & Wilkins don´t adhere to such low standards. They use top quality components with Hi-Fi characteristics and they have tweaked these to such a degree, that they also perform in near field applications. Four amplifier modules of 18 watts a piece provide power for the two woofers and two tweeters. The 3-inch woofer takes care of the middle and low frequencies, while the tweeter provides the highs. Furthermore, an internal DSP processor circuit is featured, as well as a high-quality DAC that is connected to your computer via USB. This way, the (often quite plain) on-board sound card of your computer is circumvented and digital signals are converted by the MM-1. The result is an excellent sound quality, whereby frequencies between 38 and 22,000 Hz are optimally reproduced and in a highly balanced fashion.
