The semi-acoustic AS models that have come out of the Ibanez Artstar Series are already sought-after by thinline hollow-body fans and, since this is the Prestige edition, it also breathes the high-precision Japanese build quality that Ibanez is so renowned for. The level of love and care that's gone into this guitar is immediately evident, from the smooth Prestige treatment of the twenty-two medium frets to the snug and reliable playing feel of the chic ebony fretboard and 12 inch radius. The stable three-piece African mahogany and S-Tech roasted maple neck has been bound to the body with a set-in joint, while a centreblock sits beneath the spruce soundboard to reduce the chance of feedback. The rest of the body has been made from anigre hardwood, which features a naturally intricate grain that shows through the sunburst finish. This meticulous build lays down a rich and resonant foundation framed by full mids and a light bite in the trebles. Vintage-vibed and wide-ranging, mid-output amplified sound is assured by two Super 58 humbuckers complete with dedicated volume and tone controls per pickup, and extra tuning stability is supplied by the Gotoh hardware, including a GE101A tailpiece, 510BN bridge and matching machine heads.
