The semi-acoustic Epiphone Kat has been picked up and praised by guitarists favouring a wide range playing styles. The Uptown version is a deluxe-feeling archtop with a fresh finish and ES-style aesthetics mounted with two mini-humbuckers. This pair of blade-style ProBucker FB720 pickups deliver solid Alnico II tone that was only previously attainable with a solid-body Firebird from the mid-'60s.
The Uptown Kat ES: Stable and Endlessly Versatile
The 5-ply laminate body-parts of the Kat ensure a stable construction that frames enhanced resonance and fuller character of sound, while the spruce centre-block removes the fear of any of the unwanted feedback expected from standard semi-acoustics. A set of Grover Rotomatic machine heads, a Graphtech string nut and an Epiphone LockTone bridge combine to maintain the outstanding tuning stability of the Uptown Kat and finish a tonally versatile guitar that can comfortably turn its hand to anything from straight-up rock, to nostalgiac rockabilly and all the way to retro indie.
