To get the most out of his 8-string axe, Stephen Carpenter has teamed up with Fishman, resulting in the PRF-MS8-SC1 Fluence Signature Pickups. In the first voicing, Carpenter gave the midrange a bit of a boost, to help it stand out a bit more in the mix. What's more, thanks to adjustments to tone and gain, voicing 2 offers even more power. The low F# and B strings on an 8-string guitar can sometimes sound a bit muddy, but with the Fishman PRF-MS8-SC1 pickups, that is a thing of the past.

Fishman Fluence: revolutionary pickups

Fishman has revolutionised the design of guitar picks with their Fluence series. By applying, or printing coils, like traces on a circuit board, the company cleverly sidesteps the classic downsides of conventional pickups. They're entirely quiet and offer a beautifully bright and clear sound. What's more, this technology makes it possible to capture multiple different sounds in one pickup. A Fishman Fluence pickup is powered by a 9V battery, or the separately available FBP100 lithium-ion battery.
