The Peavey 6505 MH is a compact tube guitar amp head that delivers the same authentic tones as the legendary 6505 tube amplifier. This Micro Head has two channels with the same gain structure and voicing as its big brother. Both channels share a 3-band EQ, lush reverb and a buffered FX loop. For quickly switching between sounds when practising or performing, a foot switch can be used to control the channels, reverb and FX loop, as well as a Crunch boost. Another handy feature is the T.S.I. circuit which lets you know when any of the tubes need replaced. This tube amp head combines great functionality with legendary sound.

6505 MH Micro Head: extensive tone controls

The Peavey 6505 is widely used in the rock and metal world. The Micro Head is perfectly suited to those genres too, thanks to the aggressive distortion produced by three 12AX7 preamp tubes and two EL84 power tubes. You have the choice between two channels: Rhythm (clean) and Lead (overdrive). The Rhythm channel features a Bright button and another for a Crunch boost, giving you a sparkling clean sound and a delicious distortion respectively. But for serious shredding, the Lead channel will give you all you'd expect from a Peavey tube amplifier. Controls for Resonance and Presence are shared between the two channels and keep the sound tight and defined even with high gain. They also serve as extra controls for the high and low tones.

Functionality

The buffered FX loop can be found on the rear and allows you to add your favourite effects pedals or processors. If you'd like to record directly to your computer, the 6505 MH even has an USB port built in. The speaker output has a switchable impedance of 8 or 16 ohms so that you attach a speaker cabinet of your choice. Peavey understands that's its not always possible (or desirable) to play at full volume all the time, and that's why there's a headphone socket as well as a built-in attenuator that lets you switch the power output from 20 watts to 5 watts or even 1 watt. This means that you can still enjoy solid overdrive without making your ears bleed.
