The newest member of the Orange family is the Micro Dark guitar amplifier head. Micro refers to its size and not its sound, which is anything but micro. It's just what you'd expect from an amplifier company like Orange: rugged and direct. With just three controls (Volume, Shape and Gain), the easily transportable amp head can take your music anywhere you want to go with a 12AX7/ECC83 tube preamp and a 20-watt transistor output.

Micro Dark Head guitar amplifier head: pure sound

In combination with the gain control, you can manipulate your sound endlessly using the Shape knob. This regulates how the mid-tones sound: on '0', the mids are eliminated completely leaving just treble and bass, on '10' the reverse is true. The Micro Dark also has a headphone socket that sounds just like an Orange 4x12 inch cabinet, thanks to CabSim. Naturally though, it sounds best when connected to a real cabinet.

Metal at home

With its small size and low output, practising at home is easy with the Orange. If you want to add something different to the sound, you can add effects using the effects loop; not that that is really needed, of course, because the Micro Dark's true nature is as a metal amplifier. As a metalhead, you will quickly find what you're looking for.
