Audio quality of the versatile 1818VSL

The 1818VSL requires a powerful workstation in order to function fully. It offers great sound quality over multiple tracks featuring a number of inputs and outputs. You can connect a whopping 8 signal sources at the same time; all you need is a workstation that can keep up!

The 24-bit, 96 kHz audio processing guarantees high-quality, crystal-clear recording that you can edit using the included software, and listen to between editing sessions.

Latency free

Often, the word latency is mentioned with regard to the audio processing when recording multiple tracks. Latency, however, is a foreign concept to the 1818VSL which is designed to be as latency free as possible, depending on your workstation of course. But the 1818VSL offers so much more than zero-latency; like ADAT, S/PDIF, wordclock and a MIDI interface that surprisingly all fits in the compact 19-inch housing.

Zeer goed klinkende interface. Niet de modernste, maar tegen zo'n scherpe prijs haal je een boel kwaliteit in huis. Voor mij is 24/96 ruim voldoende. Met 8 ingangen (AMAX) en 8 uitgangen heeft hij ruim voldoende mogelijkheden.
Ik zocht een USB interface die op mijn oude (Mac Pro) én nieuwe (Mac Book) systeem kan draaien en dat doet deze. Er zijn nog steeds drivers voor OS 10.6.8 beschikbaar. Het meegeleverde Studio One Artist is een mooi alternatief voor Logic (mijn huidige DAW op mijn oude systeem) als ik ooit op mijn Mac Book verder ga werken.
Onhandig is dat de hoofdtelefoon uitgang alleen op uitgang 7/8 is aangesloten. Geen switch om te schakelen tussen main en monitor. Vandaar niet de volle 5 sterren.

I don't speak much Dutch so I will write a review in English. This product is great and the delivery was very very fast. The price of the product was exactly right and the ease of use and all the cables and connections are great.

The Interface records all my mics and my sounds with no problem and the amount of channels works great for my work (recording drums) I would highly recommend this interface to anyone

The only thing I can fault is the Studio One version is an outdated and not used version. I do not use Studio One however I think it would greatly improve the product.

Should you Buy this Interface? Yes unless you are counting on Studio One 3 being included.

Volgende dag ontvangen en binnen 10 minuten installed. Moest even goed kijken naar de laatste driver-update op de site van Presonus, maar geen enkel probleem. Ook Presonus Studio One rel. 3 herkende de Audiobox direct. Direct alle ins en outs getest en werkte naar behoren. Leuk dat je de Audiobox vanaf je iPad kunt bedienen. Tot slot het allerbelangrijkste, het geluid: Ik had een Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, waar ik dik tevreden over was, maar vind het geluid van de Audiobox 1818 ronder, warmer en sprekender. Kortom, ik ben erg tevreden!

Fijne interface! Goed ontwerp en makkelijk mee te nemen.
Zorg wel voor een snelle computer want een deel van z'n rekenkracht haalt ie daaruit. Bij een minder snelle computer blijven klikjes en plopjes (Memoryplops) je opnames storen. Voor windows zijn hier wat trucjes voor, check het forum!

LET OP!
Voor alsnog werkt deze geluidskaart NIET met de nieuwste macs. Bij deze macs is de architectuur van USB aangepast waardoor een zeldzaam aantal apparaten niet worden herkent. Presonus is hier wel mee bezig. De website zal meer duidelijkheid geven.

Mooie interface, maar daar is wat mij betreft alles mee gezegd.

Ik heb deze interface een tijdje geprobeerd, maar beviel me toch niet. Ik wil hem live gebruiken en was op zoek naar een goede usb interface die uitbreidbaar is tot minimaal 16 in/uit, met minimale latency.

Enthousiast heb ik de 1818VSL aangesloten en geprobeerd, maar wat ik ook deed, hij bleef klikjes en plopjes genereren. Met de nieuwste (beta) drivers werd dit wel iets minder, maar nog steeds meerdere klikjes en plopjes per minuut.

Ook vond ik de drivers niet zo lekker werken. Het bijgeleverde programma werkt niet intuitief en ik kon weinig dingen instellen. Ik ben niet geinteresseerd in de extra's als fat channel en virtual studio, ik wil gewoon een interface met ins en outs. Uiteindelijk heb ik hem wel kunnen configureren naar mijn wens, maar de klikjes en plopjes bleven.

Ik zou hem dus niet aanbevelen.

Heb deze presonus nu 2 weken in gebruik maar echt een top product perfect geluid en mooie software erbij. Had hiervoor de M-audio fastback maar ben meer tevreden over de presonus.
