Allmänt

MOTU's 8A Thunderbolt/USB3 audio interface is half the size of their flagship audio interface, the 16A, but just as impressive. It offers plenty of power and connection options so you can send and receive data over 34 analogue and digital inputs and outputs via ADAT. Also, you can record at an impressive 44.1 kHz with up to 128 inputs and outputs using the same output channels! The 8A houses renowned ESS Sabre32 DAC super converters, which are also found in this interface's powerful predecessor.

Extremely low latency

It goes without saying that latency is simply not an issue with the USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt connection possibilities. The 8A is capable of what's known as Round-Trip Latency (RTL), which delivers 1.6ms at 96 kHz via Thunderbolt. This is slightly higher via USB 3.0. As well as super-fast Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 ports, the 8A also supports the AVB/TSN protocol so you can distribute audio over multiple channels via Ethernet and benefit from the same low latency. What's more, you can connect a second 8A. The firmware is class-compliant (USB 3.0) and the standard programs all work with the popular DAWs.

Mixing with DSP

As well as the impressive feature list mentioned previously, you can mix completely 'in the box' using the integrated DSP mixer. There is a total of 48 digital inputs that are distributed over 12 aux buses and 3 groups, offering access to 64 network inputs. You can also edit the recorded tracks using built-in DSP effects that include reverb, a 4-bands equalizer, gate and compression. Basically, the entire console you're used to has been simulated so it will take no time at all to get used to working with it. Last but not least, use the 8A in standalone mode and control all its functions wirelessly using your laptop, tablet or smartphone!
