Allmänt
The Motu 24Ao is a USB audio interface that has even more to offer than its sleek design suggests. This rack-mountable device has three D-sub outputs (DB-25) on board and six 12-pin Euroblock outputs. Whichever connector you choose, the Ao24 offers 24 output channels in total, as well as 24 digital inputs and 24 digital outputs. The digital connectors are provided by three optical inputs and outputs for ADAT or SMUX. With a total of 72 channels on offer, this audio interface can also be used with network snakes for stage and studio applications.
Motu 24Ao: speed, control and effects
With an extremely low latency of no more than 20 samples (0.42 ms), the 24Ao certainly won't be the bottleneck in your setup. In fact, your computer will receive a helping hand from the excellent internal mixer and effects on this PC/Mac interface. It'll also put 48 channels, 7 stereo buses, 3 groups, a reverb bus/4th group, main mix bus and monitor/solo bus at your disposal. Operation is kept manageable by the included software that offers access to the matrix where all of the inputs and outputs are freely assignable. The effects include an impressive 'British' equalizer, a classic compressor and a highly accurate Teletronix LA-2A imitator.
Network options
An important part of the 24Ao is the network possibilities offered by Motu's extremely reliable AVB standard. Two interfaces can be connected via a standard network cable, three or more by a separately available AVB switch and even more Motu AVB devices by adding even more switches. Even when cables hundreds of metres long are used, you can count on the extremely low latency. On the 24Ao (or AVB switch), a standard router or Apple Airport can be connected giving you a wireless connection via a PC, Mac, Linux system or Android or iOS device.
