This comprehensive, remarkably accessible audio interface isn't just a tasteful addition to your recording setup, it's also a reliable workhorse. It can effortlessly process the signals of up to four microphones - both dynamic and condenser models - and transmit them to your computer using a modern USB-C connector. Rest easy, though, the interface also supports USB-A. Thanks to high-quality, high-headroom microphone preamps, you can rely on incredibly clear results.
A sound card with four input channels
As you can see, the front of the durable, all-metal M-Track 84 features four connectors. The two on the left are special instrument inputs, and allow you to plug in an electro-acoustic guitar, for instance. Channels 1 and 2 give you a choice between connecting an instrument or a microphone. Input volume is easily adjusted using the knobs on the top panel, while the large metal dial in the centre controls the level of the line outputs, to which you can connect your monitor speakers, for example. Especially for beginners, a software package is included.
Two headphone outputs
M-Audio has reserved the two outputs on the right of the M-Track 84's front panel for one or two pairs of headphones. That means you can use the audio interface to record two musicians simultaneously! Source switches allow you to determine whether you hear channels 1/2 or channels 3/4 through your headphones, and thanks to volume controls and a direct monitoring function you'll be able to hear yourself perform at a pleasant volume without any latency. In short, if you're looking for an external sound card that enables you to record a line-up of four vocalist, or two vocalists with a guitar and a bass guitar, the M-Audio M-Track 84 is just the thing!
