Allmänt
These days, guitarists who are just starting out have a lot of guitars to choose from. Despite serious competition however, Squier's Bullet series is still a popular choice, which isn't hard to believe, as the brand is a subsidiary of the renowned Fender company. Each and every Squier is great value for money. This Bullet Strat HSS features the authentic Stratocaster look and a humbucker in the bridge position.
Construction
Even though this Bullet looks exactly like its predecessor, it weighs considerably less due to an extra-thin, lightweight basswood body. This wood type also offers a pleasant, balanced tone. The light-coloured maple neck contrasts nicely with the dark laurel fretboard, while adding warmth to the instrument's sound as well. Using the tremolo, you can produce those unmistakable subtle guitar effects that makes the strat such a popular model. Finally, this Bullet HSS has a humbucker in the bridge position for when you need an extra dose of power for heavier genres.
The Squier brand
Fender has produced some world-famous models, including the Precision and Jazz basses and the Stratocaster and the Telecaster guitars. Today, copies of these popular models by inferior brands in various price categories are available all over the market. In order to be able to provide a reliable and attractive alternative for starting (bass) guitarists, Fender founded their subsidiary brand, Squier, in 1982. Ik zocht dus een goedkope Strat met een simpele neck, want dat "brandhout" onderdeel zou ik er toch afhalen. Ook voor het geluid zou ik waarschijnlijk wel andere pick-ups inzetten.
Ik heb ook nog een Squier Stratocaster uit 1986 (made in Japan!!!) en die wilde ik niet opofferen aan dit scalloped experiment.
En voor 133 zou ik me geen buil vallen, leek me.
De Squier Bullet werd de volgende dag geleverd in een verpakking waar je zelfs overheen kon rijden.
In de wetenschap, dat gitaren "zo uit de doos" nooit goed zijn afgesteld was geen probleem. Zat ervaring met customizen. Even de neck met de bijgeleverde sleutel vlak trekken en de brug goed afstellen qua intonatie. Daarna uitproberen, kijken hoe die bevalt voordat ik de neck er af sloop.
Maar nu zit ik met een luxe probleem, en zal ik toch mijn bejaarde Squier gaan voorzien van die speciale neck.
Het geluid en de bespeelbaarheid van deze Bullet zijn nl. zo goed, dat ik de gitaar zo laat zoals hij is. Ongelooflijk voor dit geld!
