Michael Kelly's Enlightened Classic 50 is a more-than-excellent choice if you're in need of a lightweight electric guitar with traditional yet deluxe looks. To keep the weight down and the sound as rich as possible, this guitar was given a cedar body with weight relief ports and an aluminium rather than steel bridge and control plate. The result? A mighty electric guitar that weighs only 2.7 kg!

The Enlightened Classic 50 with Quad Mod

To preserve the rich sound shaped by the tone wood used for the body, Michael Kelly has mounted two Rockfield single-coils on the Enlightened Classic 50. Specially voiced for thin, light bodies, these pickups deliver exactly the authentically twangy tone you'd expect and, since this model also features a Quad Mod, it actually offers a fourth pickup switch setting that places both single-coils in series to give you fat, humbucker-like sound.
