The LTD EC-401 VF DMZ LD is a beautiful electric guitar brandishing a Lemon Drop finish and rugged, vintage-sounding DiMarzio pickups modelled after the ones on Larry DiMarzio's 1959 LP® guitar. In addition to a great sound, this guitar has a beautiful finish. Its Flamed Maple top has a gorgeous, tiger-like pattern that is well visible through the striking, transparent yellow/orange lacquer. The chrome hardware and beautiful position markers really dot the i's. The LTD EC-401 VF Lemon Drop (DiMarzio) is a durable guitar at a reasonable price with a tasteful finish and a great sound.
LTD EC-401 VF Lemon Drop (DiMarzio): wood types
The basis for the LTD EC-401 VF Lemon Drop's (DiMarzio) sound is laid by its mahogany body, which produces a deep, open sound with lengthy sustain. The rosewood fretboard and maple top jump into the puddle and add a bright edge and direct response. Its set-in neck is also made of mahogany and surprisingly slender. Combined with the extra-jumbo frets, the narrow neck allows for delightfully smooth playing and easy string bends.
DiMarzio pickups
The DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary pickups warrant a warm, clear tone and moderate output. Even though these pickups have a weak magnetic field, they are able to produce a highly defined sound. Each pickup is actually two pickups. The force of the double magnetic fields guarantees more sustain and higher output while retaining great attack. To ensure a rock-solid intonation this guitar is equipped with Grover machine heads and a Tune-O-Matic bridge.
