With the DSP-BK Starplayer Special Black, Duesenberg returns to where it all began. Since the introduction of the first Starplayer in the '90s, the model has undergone a few changes. This model is the latest version that was voted guitar of the year in 2003. The Duesenberg Starplayer Special Black has a classic single-cut shape. The body is made of alder and is fitted with a Grand Vintage humbucker in the neck position, and a higher-output Crunchbucker in the bridge position. If that doesn't guarantee rock, nothing will!
Duesenberg Starplayer Special Black: multi-tone control
Apart from powerful, penetrating rock sounds, the Starplayer Special features multi-tone controls that make it an excellent choice for other styles of music too. Its humbuckers can even function as single-coils! The 2-piece maple neck adds extra character to the sound, and because the heel makes perfect contact with the body, you get good sustain too. The combination of alder and maple gives the instrument a bit more attack and brightness compared to other guitars with the same body type. This special guitar has the characteristic vintage feel that you expect from a Duesenberg.
Fans throughout the world
Duesenberg got its name from a famous German car brand from the 1920s, which was synonymous with elegance, luxury and mechanical precision. Clearly, Duesenberg Guitars strives for those very same things. Since 1986, they've been crafting instruments with incredible attention to detail and shapes that bring to mind the Art Deco movement. All of the hardware used was developed in-house. This results in eye-catching guitars with a unique sound favoured by many famous guitarists around the world. Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey, Ron Wood, Bob Dylan, Billy Gibbons, Jon Bon Jovi, Mike Campbell, Elvis Costello; all of these musicians have one or more Duesenbergs.
