The EP10 Black Pearl has a top made of solid Engelmann spruce; a wood type that's often used for its tonal characteristics since it delivers a healthy dose of intensity and clarity. The sides and back are made of mahogany, providing sufficient treble and mids. The mahogany neck has a rosewood fretboard finished with tree-of-life inlays and 20 frets and is fitted to the body at the 14th fret while the cutaway gives easy access to the high notes.

Fishman Acoustic Matrix Pickup with Aura IC Preamp

The EP10-BP is equipped with a Fishman Acoustic Matrix Undersaddle pickup that features Aura Image Casting technology. This means you have four images of rich, acoustic tones, each created by Steve Vai. These tones have been recorded in a professional studio with a full-body guitar, top-shelf microphones and an undersaddle pickup. Thanks to this technology, this Thinline body gets that firm sound of a full-body model. The Aura IC preamp also has volume and tone control.
