Mixars is a new player on the DJ scene and stems from dB Technologies, a brand known for their active speaker systems, and the DUO is one of the first products this brand has to offer. It's a true battle DJ mixer for DJs who like working with hot cues, samples, and loops. Its standard 2-channel layout has been spruced up with illuminated RGB pads on both sides that can be used to trigger all kinds of functions in your DJ software. Together with a built-in audio interface and a USB hub, the DUO is an ideal companion for the DVS or timecode DJ.
Construction and layout
High quality, a clear overview and a sleek design were clearly top priorities during the development of this mixer, judging by its logical construction and absence of superfluous sub-functions. And, thanks to its compact, yet robust aluminium housing, you can easily take this device to a gig and not worry about it sustaining any damage. A central strip that separates the channels houses the VU meters, navigation buttons for your music library, and volume controls for your sampler and headphones, among other things.
Mixars DUO extra features
This device has certain luxuries you just won't find on other mixers. Take, for example, the VU meters per deck, the standard mini Innofader that's installed as a cross fader, or the built-in loop function buttons that allow you to create loops with ease. Due to its compact size, it easily fits between two turntables in either regular or battle mode for standard beat mixing, or timecode beat juggling.
