Allmänt
Digital mixers once came in a range of price-brackets and, the bigger they got, the bigger the price. British company, Soundcraft is no stranger to hulking and high-quality mixers made for thicker wallets but have thankfully broken from tradition to produce the highly cost-effective Soundcraft Si Expression 2 digital mixer. The Expression 2 is a serious mixer that comes with motorised faders, an intuitive interface and expansion options worthy of a professional-grade unit at twice the price.
Other features
Loaded with DSPs from Lexicon, dbx and Studer, you can be assured that your sound really is in professional hands. The mixer has 24 microphone inputs that, with the addition of a Soundcraft Stagebox, can be expanded to take 66. The built-in microphone preamps have a considerable dynamic range to allow for plenty of headroom and the input section gives you gain, HPF frequency, polarity and phantom power per channel. Tweak each input using the four-band equaliser and add some delay, a gate and a little compression while your outputs are taken care of by a 30-band equaliser, compression, delay and four Lexicon effects.
Controls
The fader beds are equipped with Soundcraft's own FaderGlow technology so that the beds are lit depending on the function of the fader, making mixing a clear and colourful process. The encoders above the faders are fitted with LED rings so that the correct position is easily seen while a colour touchscreen display gives you streamlined access to simple structural monitoring and insert settings. As well as this display, you'll find traditional effects and settings such as input, compressor, equalizer, output; all of which are lit up with LED rings. The real pro-touch to the Soundcraft Si Expression 2 is the ability to control it remotely via an iOS tablet.
